My day tour with NKS Travel in Taman Negara was an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, culture, and incredible nature. The day began with a peaceful morning stroll along a wooden path through the rainforest. It was the perfect warm-up for what was to come—a real jungle trek, complete with climbing over tree roots and navigating rugged terrain. One highlight was the climb to Bukit Indah. The trail was beautifully colored by red soil and trees, making the hike almost surreal. The viewpoint itself was modest, but the journey made it well worth the effort. Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by NKS Travel in a picturesque spot where a jungle stream met the Tembling River. The final part of the hike followed another stream, leading us to a stunning waterfall and a small pool. This natural oasis was the perfect place to cool off and relax. Bathing under a waterfall, surrounded by jungle, is far better than any shower back home.
Throughout the five-hour wildlife tour, I encountered an incredible variety of flora and fauna. From a giant millipede and a pit viper to colorful beetles and marching ants, the jungle was alive with fascinating creatures. The plants were just as intriguing—giant trees with sprawling roots, vibrant mushrooms, and plants with amazing uses. Our guide showed us plants that could stop bleeding, work as soap, act as sandpaper, and even change colors. The rainforest’s scents and sounds were equally captivating, from the fresh, earthy smell to the calls of exotic birds and gibbons. A special moment was when our guide lit sandalwood fresh from a tree, filling the air with its rich aroma.
The cultural highlight of the day was visiting the Orang Asli tribe, who live in straw huts by the river. They demonstrated their traditional way of life, including how they make fire and create poison darts. I even got to try my hand at shooting a blowdart, which was very fun! To top it all off, we ended the day with rapid shooting—a wild water boat ride that soaked us from head to toe. It was thrilling and so much fun, leaving us laughing and refreshed by the end.
